There is something about the gaze of this owl that is so resonating and powerful. I had a the best time layering collage elements inside the owl, the shapes seemed to come together very naturally. The hazy blues and greens feel calming and grounding, and the washed of burnt sienna and umbers convey and warm earthiness.

The owl is cut from an abstract study in my art journal and then embellished with collage. Many layers of texture and glazes create depth and an ethereal glow. Finished with gold foil and two coats of gloss pouring medium. Signed and titled on back. Hanging hardware attached.
