Facing the creative muse

We all put on our eye masks, and for 15 minutes, I meditated in complete darkness while we listened to Dr. Jeffery Thompson's meditation (Delta Sleep One). The idea was to go into a deep space where you would start to see colors, lights, shapes, etc.

At first I didn't see anything, only the black of the mask, but then I saw a tiny white light. the light blinked on and off and then there was a tiny swirling vortex with this "light" in the center. It became an eye shape, a human eye. It was very tiny, but slowly got larger. Then the eye changed shape and became an owl's eye! It was large, round and shining.

Filmy clouds of magenta and violet swirled around. The eye started changing into other animals, a wolf, a bear, a fox and then back to an owl. That's when I noticed my eyes were open. I was seeing all of this behind the mask with my eyes OPEN. The eyes got larger and moved closer to me. Sometimes they would blink. It was a little unsettling, but I stuck with it. And then the meditation ended.

It was phenomenal. Beautiful.
Unlike anything I've ever experienced.

I'm not exactly sure what it meant, these soulful animal eyes floating in my consciousness. But they were speaking to me. I painted a few works on paper since I've returned; it just poured out of me. This next collection has me very excited. I can't wait to paint them!
