I've always been drawn to color and line. Bright and vivid hues weave its way into my work and deeply inform my painting practice. I’m drawn to the bold and subtle hues of nature: sunlight, shadows, water, sky, earth, stones, botanicals. These visuals from the natural world are woven delicately into everything I create. Drawing is the backbone to my process, and delicate and bold lines are incorporated while developing a painting.
My creative process is very thoughtful in the beginning. It's about visualization, discovery and spontaneity. Those first marks are free form and are the beginnings of a story that will weave its way into a more distinctive subject. As the painting takes shape, it’s all about editing: adding and subtracting, pushing and pulling, until I feel it’s just right. Sometimes there's a plan, but much of the time the subject evolves from abstraction.

Biography Jen has always been an artist, daydreamer and voracious reader. The theatre is where she thrived in high school, and creative outlets were what she sought out. Being on stage, playing the piano, singing, and of course art, were part of her daily life.
Fast forward to finding a pathway to art school at Kendall College of Art + Design in Grand Rapids, MI, and then a journey to the South. She dove into the world of freelance illustration, graphic design and art direction in Atlanta, GA. But involvement in the local art scene was important to her as well. Jen took on leadership as president of the Graphic Artist Guild Atlanta chapter, followed by president of the Avondale Arts Alliance in her local community as well as logging hours of volunteer efforts in local schools for art initiatives.
Finally, Jen began focusing on her own art. Painting and drawing are “the blood” as she says, and is currently on the journey of finding her distinctive voice. Jen also runs a brick and mortar boutique and art gallery, Garage Door Studio, that highlights handmade and local art, representing 70+ artists in the region.
I'm drawn to the quiet spirit of animals, the natural world and feminine muses coupled with the abstract.
My paintings, whether in watercolor, cold wax and oil or acrylic mixed media, invoke a sense of nostalgia with ethereal, magical and honest expression.
Owner of a retail art boutique and gallery, Garage Door Studio in Atlanta, GA, Jen supports 60+ emerging artists in the south.
